BROWSER restrictions :

Unfortunately, we are restricted to the limitations of the various browsers - the Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) Browser and other PC based browsers (such as Mozilla (firefox) and Safari) - which sometimes cause issues with the opening of eBooks on your computer.

Please review the instructions below to assist in fixing these browser settings.

When opening my e-Book, why does the security box appear?

This security box means that we have virus checked the eBook before release, for your protection.

The security box is there to certify that the software has not been tampered with by anyone after its release. If someone has tried to manipulate the ebook, this security box will tell you.

To proceed with the reader simply click ‘Yes'.

Why does the grey box open even though I have clicked “yes” previously?

This is because the eBook has been updated to be compatible with the latest developments in Windows and the eBook software.

With each new version of eBook, you will need to click “yes” to accept the updated reader. This is to ensure your computer is safe.

Why does the red x appear and nothing happen?

If you clicked the ‘no' button on the security box then this red X will appear in the webpage.

To fix this, press the F5 key and then click ‘Yes' button on the security box.

Running ActiveX controls message.

Message appears and the eBook will not open.

This message indicates that your PC – the Microsoft Internet Explorer (your browser) – has its ActiveX controls disabled and this means that the eBook will not load.

ActiveX is normally disabled if you have set your browser to the very highest level of security.

To change your Internet Explorer security settings (see below)

  1. Open your web browser.
  2. Select the Tools drop-down menu and then choose Options.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Move the security level for this zone to Medium – see image below.
  5. Then click ‘OK'.
  6. When you are back on the web page and then click ‘Yes' button on the security box.
  7. A grey box will appear – click ‘OK'.

If your web page freezes – but this box does not display – and the eBook will not open, you may be facing the same security issue.

Please follow the same procedure above and retry opening the eBook.

NEW - WINDOW XP Service Pack 2

The Information Bar window.

The information bar is a new feature for Windows XP on service pack 2.

Click OK to proceed

FYI, the yellow box with the blue shield that appears at the top of the web page is a replacement of the grey Windows box that appeared on older version of Windows.

To proceed with viewing the brochure/book/catalogue, you will need to click the yellow box or click the white version of the box that appears in the middle of the screen.

Browser yellow Information bar and blue shield – why do they appear?

All software that requires sound, Java applets and animations uses the Microsoft ActiveX plug-in in their browser to activate their web pages – as does our eBook– so our splash page looks at the security setting in your browser before they activate on your computer.

If your browser has been set to the very highest level of security, ActiveX is normally disabled.
